The Rethink Materials Kollektiv is an interdisciplinary and international team of building professionals from architecture and engineering with different professional backgrounds. The collective has the common goal of promoting sustainable building methods such as the reuse of building components and the use of regenerative building materials.
The exhibition «stories of reuse» aims to raise awareness about the importance of reusing materials, through an emotional and intellectual experience. With its project «it's all there!», funded by Pro Helvetia, the Rethink Materials Kollektiv has organized deconstruction workshops where theory meets practice. The common point of these workshops is the emotion linked with the realization of the dimension of waste in the building process, as well as the understanding of what's at stake for minimizing this waste and developing reuse practice. A special thanks to Syphon for their support with materials.
«Stories of reuse» takes you on a journey through the lifecycle of different building materials. From their manufacturing process, illustrating the energy and know-how incorporated in the materials, through their use phase, towards their possible end(s) of life, the exhibition questions the cultural and economical value we give to the building materials that we see everyday around us. A dedicated space reporting what the kollektiv experienced during the deconstruction workshops, as well as the lectures organized with reuse experts will illustrate more deeply this collective adventure of reuse.
